The trend is undeniably in full swing, particularly with Depop gaining popularity among the girls. There’s truly nothing quite like discovering an amazing vintage item. We were intrigued by how the girls are showcasing their secondhand treasures, so we attended the Depop x Cosmo event to observe the styles. Here’s your weekly recap, and this week: secondhand treasures.
1. The Midi Skirt Moment
This vintage midi skirt deserves its own spotlight. The taupe piece features an embroidered crosshatch design from top to bottom, accented with delicate blue and brown details. She styled it effortlessly and sharply: a crisp white tank top and black leather ballet flats. A classic combination.
2. Gingham Girl Summer
We heard that gingham was making a resurgence this summer, and we were skeptical until we witnessed this outfit. She was seen in a matching red gingham tube top and maxi skirt ensemble, complemented by black satin ballet flats. A showstopper, and what a find.
3. Granny-Core & Graphic Tanks
Left: She’s sporting a vintage floral crochet top, light and feminine, totally embodying granny-core, paired with black jeans and high-top Comme des Garçons Converse. Right: A vibrant blue graphic tank (so Y2K it’s nostalgic), fitted blue jeans, and mustard yellow suede sneakers. This is what we refer to as: Depop executed perfectly.
4. The Track Pant Challenge
Securing the ideal fitting Adidas track pant? A challenge in itself, and she has clearly triumphed. She styled hers with a sheer cherry-printed top, red patent leather flats, and a red shoulder bag. A+ for styling.
5. Capri Comeback
We’ve never been more thrilled to see capris making a comeback. These two are fully embracing the trend. Left: A slit capri paired with a black halter top, simple yet refined, enhanced by a brown leather shoulder bag and vintage Coach kitten heels. Right: In an acid-washed, asymmetrical top, capris (naturally), and that accordion bag. How can you even top this?
6. Jerseys on the Rise
Prints and graphics are currently trending on Depop. For example, camo cargos combined with a vintage sports jersey. Completed with black ballet flats: straightforward, yet stylish.
7. 50s Flashback
The '50s have made a comeback, and they are definitely in vogue. A red and white polka-dot button-down shirt paired with a black linen skirt, finished with black platform sandals. Retro yet very contemporary.
8. Tie It All Together
The tie takes center stage here, featuring a blue and green striped design with silver hardware details. It is layered over a white button-down tee and light-wash jeans, anchoring the outfit and drawing attention to the tie. Yellow and black Doc Martens complete the look.
